From the 80 films that were considered
eligible, nine Foreign Language Films remain following the first round
of voting ahead of the Oscars official nominations January 14.
The online entertainment source Variety
has listed the latest films on the Oscar shortlist for best Foreign
Language film. The first round of voting for six pictures took place
between mid-October and December 14 and was made up of hundreds of
Academy members. Three additional films were selected by the
foreign-language executive committee.
The second voting phase will decide the
official five foreign-language nominations. Of the nine contenders, five
are European films.
